This version of training for TREAT software offers basic and advanced options for Multifamily housing.

TREAT 101: Intro To TREAT Software

The course will introduce new users to the functionality of the TREAT Targeted Residential Energy Analysis Tools. This training will introduce the core concepts of TREAT through presentations and series of hands-on exercises with case studies. This will include the underlying concepts behind why certain selections should be made and best practices on how to achieve savings in the real world. Upon completion, users will have the ability to use TREAT to perform energy audits. This includes modeling, basic utility bill analysis, and the creation of improvements and improvement packages. This class is considered a pre-requisite for multi-family training.

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • State the core functionality of TREAT software
  • List basic features used in modeling
  • Use TREAT to model energy audits
  • Create improvements and improvement packages
  • Produce a report suitable for customer distribution

Prerequisites:

  • Basic computer skills in Windows-based applications
  • Understanding of energy auditing and building performance analysis techniques, or related background such as engineering or contracting

TREAT 102: Advanced Single-family Training

This course will introduce experienced TREAT users to advanced functionality of TREAT — Targeted Residential Energy Analysis Tools. This training will introduce sophisticated concepts to optimize residential TREAT use, through presentations and hands-on exercises which will conclude with specific issue resolution. This training will include the advanced concepts behind why certain selections should be made, and best practices on how to achieve savings in the real world. Attendees will be encouraged to bring their TREAT models to class for discussion and specific problem resolution.

At the end of this training , participants will be able to:

  • List advanced features used in modeling
  • Use TREAT to model complex single family energy audits
  • Perform a comprehensive utility bill analysis
  • Produce sophisticated and customized reporting, suitable for any audience

Prerequisites:

  • Familiarity with Windows-based applications
  • Significant experience with energy auditing and building performance analysis techniques
  • Installed and registered version of TREAT Software
  • At least three (3) TREAT models must have been created before attending this class

TREAT 201: Multifamily Building Training

The course will introduce users to the functionality of the TREAT – with a focus on using TREAT for smaller multiple unit residences and apartment complexes. This training will introduce the core concepts of multi-family TREAT through presentations and a series of hands-on exercises which will conclude with case studies. This will include the underlying concepts behind why certain selections should be made and best practices on how to achieve savings in the real world. Upon completion, users will have the ability to use TREAT to perform energy audits. This includes modeling, utility bill analysis, creation of improvements and improvement packages, and exporting of results to be used in the development of the ERP (Energy Reduction Plan). This training is meant to be taken as the first part of the two-day multi-family TREAT training course that includes TREAT 202.

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • State the core functionality of TREAT software
  • Understanding a strategy of approach to modeling multi-family buildings, including smaller buildings associated with the NYSERDA MPP
  • Use TREAT to model energy audits performed to the NYSERDA MPP audit standard
  • Perform utility bill analysis, importing data into TREAT via a user generated.csv file
  • Create improvements and improvement packages
  • Use Performance Systems Business Reports Toll (PBR) to export and review data for inclusion in the ERP

Prerequisites:

  • Basic computer skills in Windows-based applications
  • Experience with energy auditing and building performance analysis techniques or a related background such as engineering or contracting
  • Installed and registered version of TREAT Software
  • Previous building (energy) modeling experience using TREAT is required

TREAT 202: Master Multifamily Building Training

The course will introduce experienced TREAT users to advanced functionality of the TREAT. This training will introduce sophisticated concepts to optimize TREAT use, through presentations and hands-on exercises which will conclude with specific issue resolution. This training will include advanced concepts behind why certain selections should be made, and best practices on how to achieve savings in the real world. Attendees will be encouraged to bring their TREAT models to class for discussion and specific problem resolution. This training is meant to be taken as the second part of the two-day multi-family TREAT training course that includes TREAT 201.

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • List advanced features used in modeling
  • Use TREAT to model complex multi-family energy audits
  • Perform a comprehensive utility bill analysis
  • Produce sophisticated and customized reporting, suitable for any audience

Prerequisites:

  • Attendance at TREAT Multifamily 201 class
  • Significant experience with energy auditing and building performance analysis techniques and a related background such as engineering or contracting
  • Installed and registered version of TREAT Software
  • At least 10 (ten) TREAT models must have been created before attending this class (exceptions will be granted on a case-by-case basis

TREAT 301: Train the Trainer

This advanced training / teaching assistantship is specifically intended for those seeking to provide TREAT training, and will be customized according to the needs of the participants. Attendees must have completed the TREAT Master Training. The goal of the course is to develop both technical and pedagogic ability. Attendees will perform a teaching assistantship by running a portion of an actual TREAT 101: Intro to TREAT course. Class size is limited to 7 participants or less. Permission of instructor required prior to enrollment.
